Dana's Craft Beer Blog Week 1

Hi friends,

And welcome to my craft beer blog, let me be straight up, this is for people looking to drink fun micro brews, something different and unique. This is not a forum for hops, yeast & I only drink beers that begin with the letter T that come from Portland. This is beer by the people for the people, if your looking for exciting & adventures things to try from local brew houses that have a passion & zest for making real beer then your in the right place. I will be reviewing weekly and hope I can help you find that right flavour for game night, movie night, date night or full on session time.

This weeks choices:

Brooklyn Breweries Sorachi Ace:

Clean, crisp, refreshingly light, a hint lemon, is this champagne or is this beer???What I'm talking about is Brooklyn Sorachi Ace, a limited addition from the good people at Brooklyn Breweries. How many times can I name check Brooklyn, I don't know but they make great beer. This combination of the Sorachi Hop and the Breweries farm house ale style makes it a crowd pleaser. Plus the bottle is so damn cool even your friends that might hate it will make sure to Instagram it in on their phone. Bonus points for coming with a real cork, some beers win on just graphic design and taste like gag, this one wins for taste and bringing sexy back. I'm going to give this a triple threat rating, good for the session, with a meal or watching a game or movie. Grab it here.

Phillips Brewing Company & Garrison Brewing
Baltic Porter Mash-Up! Series

This is a clash of the titans, two great coastal brewing houses, Phillips and Garrison colab on a winter classic. Baltic Porter Is described as strong ale, boasting a strong 8.0 % it's a heavy weight but just cause its top ranking on the percentage doesn't mean it lacks flavour. The story goes that these beers had to make long trips across the sea so they spiked the alcohol to keep them fresh on the voyages, you don't have to get scurvy now to enjoy this true taste of the north sea's. if your into porters & stouts this is a must try. If your not into dark beers then run far away, this is a real old school style porter with a great taste and body. Those into the blackest of beers (so metal) should give this a go, good for home front, games nights and although you could session with this but it might be a slow roast, I say bring it on! Looking forward to more of this Mash-Up! Series….
