Frugal Faves

My family will be the first to tell you that I have expensive taste. From purses to jewelry to my most recent addiction, wine, I tend to go a little overboard. I’ll admit it, I love wine and I especially love to treat myself to an expensive bottle but with my plans to travel as well as other expenses, it was time to put myself on a budget. Budgeting on its own is stressful enough and what makes it even harder is cutting out the things that you love. For me, my favorite nights are spent with friends enjoying a bottle of wine and attending summer barbecues. My love for wine and my need to budget sparked my desire for cheap goodies without compromising taste.

Mind you, this endeavor was not always successful and it definitely took some getting used to. Not to mention, my poor palate took a bit of a beating to find these gems so to save you the strain, these are a few of my “frugal favorites” for under $15:

Whatchamacallit Merlot (California) $14.99 - Rich plums with gentle spice, delicious.
Whatchamacallit Chardonnay (California) $14.99- Buttery with a touch of honey, you can’t beat it!
Giacondi G, Grillo Sicilia (Italy) $11.99- Pinot Grigio style; tropical fruit, crisp and refreshing.
Twin Fin Cabernet Sauvignon (california) $13.99- Rich cherries with a dark chocolate finish.
Mon Ami Rascal White (France) $13.99- Easy sipping and perfect with chicken or spicy foods.
Vina Maipo Cabernet/Carmenere (Chili) $11.99- Juicy red fruit with spice through and through.
Coppermoon Shiraz (BC) $10.99- Juicy with the perfect amount of spice. Perfect for making Sangria too!

All these wine are exceptional for the price and will not disappoint! It’s a win-win: there’s delicious wine in my fridge and money in my pocket.
